a brief reprieve
After that horrible, depressing start to the day, my partner convinced me to go ahead and go to the draft night I was so excited for. I'm happy I went, it was a good time, and it was nice to not think of anything but the good company and the fun games.
There were originally only two of us that showed up, and we weren't sure what to do, but then my coworker who I'd invited thursday showed up, and one of the shop owners joined us, so we had 4 people, enough for a pick 2 draft! I first picked a Frostbite Pyromental, cause I'm a fervent lover of Ball Lightnings, and took a few more red and blue cards, until I said fuck it and started going mono red (with the one splash for my Pyromental)!

I got a lot of really nice cards passed to me, including the new Enrakul (which I put in the deck for the love of the game, and of course never actually played xD), the Craterclaw Colossus (which didn't get playee, but probably should have over Emrakul), and the Echoverse Fulcrum!

The first game was a very mono red game, went fast, won quickly, it felt great! The second game went longer, and I lost in the most tragic way. I assumed my opponent had way more life than they did, and thus didn't swing in for the win when I absolutely would have won! My opponent told me afterwards and I was dumbfounded by how I threw that game! My opponent didn't obscure their life total or anything, I was just too tunnel-visioned on defense! I won the next game though, but ending that 2-1 instead of 2-0 will forever haunt me!
Then I got to play against my coworker, who hasn't actually done a proper draft before (other than the one time they drafted my cube)! The games were good, but they eventually beat me with good plays and some cards I def underestimated (Puppet Crafting is a beast!)! I felt so happy for him too, cause he won the event, so he got the wall banner of his choice as a prize! I gave him some of my cards that I wasn't gonna use for his various decks he wants to brew, and that was my night!

I still feel like I made out like a bandit with the cards I drafted, and I really enjoyed my deck! They say they wanna do these $12 drafts weekly, so it really might become something I do every week, cause that's an incredible price for drafting (honestly if they didn't even offer prizes I'd still attend for that price), and it was such a good time. Hopefully we can get even more people too, and have even more fun!
I'm comfy in bed now, feeling pretty decent, let's hope things keep being nice <3
