Cute fighting game thing I noticed

So I'm vibing on the couch with my partner, watching a streamer play the new league of legends fighting game. The game is a 2v2 fighter, so you choose 2 characters and swap between them while you fight. This game also has the unique concept of allowing you to play one character, and a friend to play the second character, even online. So you can be one person playing two characters, playing against two people playing one character each.

The thing I found to be neat is how that matters for finding (and exploiting) your opponents habits! The streamer I'm watching has a grappler as one of his two characters, and often times against grapplers you want to jump, because they can't grab you while you're in the air. Grapplers can exploit this by doing things other than their grab, even if it is one of their most powerful tools (Even just having the option is powerful in and of itself). Something interesting that I saw while he was playing against two people playing one character each, is that one of the people would jump when being pressured by his Grappler, and the other person wouldn't.

Normally this wouldn't be that interesting, but the fact that both these players can be fighting him within seconds of eachother is so interesting. Normally in a fighting game you only have to manage your expectations of one person at a time, but here you could be changing between two different sets of expectations at any moment!

I think it was super cute how one person would jump and the other wouldn't, and watching the game and seeing the consequences of one person fighting two others.

I dunno, this post is kinda rambley but I just found this exciting.
