DnD World Concept: The Age of Restless Blood
I'm trying to sleep but of course that means my brain is still doing things.
The world has just exited a harsh age of war, overlong due to the mass production of scrolls of resurrection. At the end of this age, all magics that can return a person to the land of the living are outlawed, and death is held as law.
Clerics and mages of life domains are seen as lesser peoples due to their prevalence in the long age of war, and even mundane healers are viewed with heavy scrutiny.
Magic users in this world are rare, and times are harsh, at a time when arcane healing is looked down upon.
Juxtaposed against this are communities outside the watchful eyes of the high kingdoms, where ritual healing and resurrection are performed in secret.
In this age, cold iron is worth its weight in platinum, and is used in mage-jails, death-sealing coffins, and weapons of inquisitors who roam the outskirts, sniffing out the old life giving magics, deemed unnatural and forbidden.
