Name Change Epilogue
We did it, we're finally on the other side. Overall things went much smoother than expected, the only hickup being my gender marker change being denied.
Almost everyone involved in the process of my name change was helpful and kind. The process of changing offical documents such as birth certificate, ID, and social security card was significant easier than expected, especially since I was able to get my updated birth certificate on the same day of my court hearing.
Now I get the easy task of waiting for the other documents to roll into the mail, and updating my info at work.
Were the many months of waiting, imagining the worst possible outcomes harrowing? Yeah, but I have the bad habit of expecting the worst.
Were they worth it? Oh yeah! Soon my new name will be all I see and hear, only broken up by things like junk mail.
It's the end of the first chapter of a new era.
