next fest vibes
It's been a pretty cozy day, even if I haven't done much. Mostly just laid around, though I did do dishes so I can't say I did nothing.
I did end up looking at all the game demos for steam next fest and I found a handful of games I enjoyed!
Ballmancy is a simple little roguelike kinda pachinko game where you fire balls at waves of approaching monsters, feels like it could use a teeny bit more sauce to put it into more interesting territory, but it's very cute!
Poly Fighter is a pretty cool fighting game roguelike, where you can get moves as you beat opponents, that get stronger and more attributes the further you get in a run! Very fun to see a game like this and I feel like with a teeny bit of extra work it'll be awesome! And of course they'll get bonus points if they add a local vs mode!
Hyperfight 2 is an odd fighting game where you don't really have conventional moves or win conditions. You either win by getting a full 5 stocks of meter, or by knocking your opponent off the stage like smash bros. I will say this game has incredible presentation, very neat to look at. Overall a very unique game that I'm not sure for me but I hope it does well cause it's cool!
Sniper Dan is a very silly hidden object game, where you interact with everything via shooting it with your sniper rifle. No shooting people though, that would be rude! Instead you use it to zoom in and find things in a location, and shoot things that need shootin! Hidden object games aren't usually my jam, but this one is funny enough that I might get the full game.
Hyperstacks is a VR game that looked really neat and the demo just landed very flat. It's just the tutorial for the game, and it let me down after having some very neat visual design and a flashy trailer. Maybe the full game will be good, but I don't think I'll find out first hand.
D-Topia is not an porn game despite being a perfect silly name for one. It's a very neat puzzle game that seems like it'll be a neat story. Easily the biggest budget of the demo's I tried, and the puzzles weren't much of a challenge in what I imagine is an early part of a long game. I might play the full version, it seems like a good game to chill with.
Maximum Thunderness was easily my favorite demo I played. Super fun and cool in a fun and cheesy way. A sidescrolling roguelike shoot em up with neat upgrades and fun gameplay. The presentation of this game is awesome and made a great first impression. I did full runs with both of the playable characters in the demo and I wanted to play more! I'll absolutely be grabbing this one!
I might play more demo's throughout the weekend, but it's been fun enjoying the little sampler platter of demos. It was a neat way to spend the day and fill out my wishlist! <3
