the mtg lorwyn story sucks
I was already not vibing with the story for lorwyn, but episode 5 was pretty egregious. For some reason the author decided to have the only openly trans character in the story be misgendered multiple times, adding nothing to the story.
If we're trying to make the villain character seem more evil, you could just have them refer to trans character as an 'it' instead of blatantly misgendering them. It's clear the villain sees them as a tool, and even in previous lore, elves (the villains race) of this plain see anyone that isn't an elf as less than a person, so it would make even more sense to use 'it' in the scenario.
Wicked disappointed with this story, especially with how well a non-binary character was handled in Edge of Eternities. Makes me wish I hadn't preordered the strixhaven book written by the same author. Seanan McGuire should be ashamed.
